Holistic Counseling Services

My approach is rooted in mindfulness and the philosophy of the Tao. Giving due consideration to past trauma, developmental factors, and the creation and repetition of various habit energies, we will aim to arrive back in the present with a new sense of being in the world. I aim to meet you where you are, offering tailored support to guide you toward your desired goals. I specialize in addressing a wide range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, psychosis, and existential despair, helping individuals move more towards peace and fulfillment.

By "holistic," I mean we take mind, body, and spirit into consideration, treating the entire person, not just the symptoms.

Diverse Professional Experience

I bring a rich and varied professional background to my practice. I have been fully licensed since 2015 and have years of experience pre-licensure as well. I have a deep understanding of more complex acute issues from my time working with community clinics and hospitals; I helped to establish a mental health program at one of Washington’s most highly regarded drug and alcohol recovery centers. My understanding of healing is not merely academic but personal.

With a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University Seattle and a B.A. in Comparative Religion/Philosophy from the University of Washington, I draw from my diverse experiences to connect with clients across all ages and backgrounds.

Comprehensive Therapeutic Training

Operating from a humanistic, existential, and transpersonal orientation, I believe in the patient's expertise over their own experience. My extensive training includes lifespan integration, CBT, CPT, mindfulness, mindfulness-based CBT, CBT for psychosis, somatic experiencing, EMDR, hypnotherapy, and addiction recovery. A nationally accredited supervisor (ACS), I also provide professional mentorship to associate-level clinicians. My personal experiences with overcoming pain, loss, and extremes of confusion and desperation inspire a compassionate and authentic approach to healing, grounded in the tradition of the "wounded healer."

Philosophy of Healing

Jonaid of Baghdad was the essence of patience, both in word and deed. When Shebli, as a seeker, first encountered Jonaid, he demanded:

"You are recommended as an expert on pearls,"... "Either give me one, or sell one to me."

"If I sell you one, you will not have the price of it, and if I give you one, having so easily come by it you will not realize its value," Jonaid replied. "Do like me; plunge headfirst into this Sea, and if you wait patiently, you will obtain your pearl."

It has been observed that, "all problems are psychological; all solutions are spiritual." That, also, is part of my philosophy.

Kevin Maloy, LMHC, ACS: Beyond the Practice

Outside his work, Kevin enjoys soccer, cycling, yoga, gardening, music, poetry, reading, writing, traveling, and relaxing. He credits these passions, along with his professional and personal journey, as integral parts of his holistic approach to counseling.

"There's nothing wrong with the world. What's wrong is our way of looking at it."

"... to live in this world you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go."
